A carpentry practice built on traditional skills, honest materials, and a refusal to compromise on quality.
I started Spottiswood Carpentry after spending years working for other people and wanting to do things properly. That means taking on fewer jobs, spending more time on each one, and being honest with clients about what's achievable.
I work across three areas — timber frame structures, bespoke buildings, and kitchens and joinery. The common thread is solid timber and traditional methods. I don't use shortcuts that look fine for a few years and then don't.
Every job I take on, I see through myself. You'll deal with me from the first conversation to the day I hand over the keys.
I use mortise and tenon, pegged joints, and hand-cut details where they make sense — not as a selling point, but because they hold better and last longer.
I do the work myself. That means I can stand behind it. If something isn't right, I'll fix it — no passing the buck.
Good work takes time. I'd rather give you a realistic schedule upfront than overpromise and rush the finish.
You deal with me throughout. No account managers, no handoffs. If you have a question at any stage, you know who to call.
"The wood tells you what it wants to be. You just have to pay attention."
If you have a project in mind — big or small — get in touch and we can have a conversation about it.
